Boris Becker & Sourav Ganguly to grace Tata 25K marathon in Kolkata

Internet Desk: Wait is over as the city of joy will witness Eastern India’s biggest running revolution TSK 25K 2016. Tata Steel Kolkata(TSK) 25k’ will be graced by the iconic Sourav ganguly along with tennis legend Boris Becker. It was reported by a week back by xtratime.in that the German tennis legend will be here in kolkata for the event.

With the iconic Sourav Ganguly as the face of the event that gets underway on December 18, this 25 kilometer stretch of heritage Kolkata, laden with history and cultural opulence, is waiting to bear testimony to the biggest carnival celebrating health, fitness and career rolled into one. The event will also see the tennis legend who won the world with hos golden eye-lids and boom-boom brand of tennis. For none other than Boris Becker, will be in flesh on the starting line-up as the PUMA legend for the event.

With an aim to encourage everyone to participate and indulge in an active sporting lifestyle, the event includes five categories the 25K (Elite and Amateurs), Open 10K, Ananda Run (6 km), Senior Citizen’s Run (4 km), and Champions with Disability (4 km). The feature races 25K and the Open 10K Run are compulsorily timed race categories. The total prize money of Rs. 22,80,000.

Sourav Ganguly said, “Today, running is one of the fastest growing sport in the county and it is a proud moment for Kolkata to host India’s Premier event, the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K. Running brings with it a sense of freedom, joy and confidence with every step and I am extremely happy to be part of this running revolution. Tata Steel 25K Kolkata, is a positive step towards spreading the message of health and fitness and I am confident the people will come out in huge numbers December 18.”

India’s premier 25K has galvanized the crème de la crème of the cultural capital of the country including the art community, Tollywood sports icons, government authorities and sports federations among others.

Boris Becker in a message has expressed his excitement and joy at being able to be a part of this event. “This will be my first visit to Kolkata and India. I am really looking forward to it. I hope I will witness a huge congregation on the race day. It will be a colorful milieu united for one cause.”
