Black Caps crumble at Wellington, India won the 5th ODI by 35 runs

The Indian team has managed to beat New Zealand by 35 runs in the fifth One-Day International match, and win the series 4-1 on foreign soil for the fourth time in history. India scored 252 runs in the fifth one-day match with the modest batting of middle order. In reply, New Zealand was dismissed for 217 in 44.1 overs. Ambati Rayudu was declared man of the match. When Mohammed Shami declared the man of the series.

Chasing a target of 253, New Zealand batsman struggle against Mohammad Shami’s bowling. The Blackcaps lost three crucial wickets for 38 runs. But Captain Kane Williamson (39) and Todd Latham (37) put on 67 runs for the fourth wicket to put New Zealand in steady condition. However, New Zealand was outplayed by Indian spin bowling attack of Yuzwendra Chahal and Kedar Jadhav. The kiwi middle order lost a streak at regular intervals. In the final overs, Allrounder Jimmy Neesham went closest and had his chance to show he could finish, but a brain explosion when he wandered out of his crease and Dhoni threw down the stumps ended his powerful knock of 44 off 32 balls. Shami and Hardik Pandya were two wickets each for India while Yuzwendra Chahal bagged three wickets. Kedar Jadhav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar got one wicket each.

Earlier, India lost four wickets for 18 runs in the first inning but Ambati  Rayudu and Vijay Shankar, who were put 98 for the fifth wicket, improved India’s position. Shankar contributed 45 runs, while Rayudu scored a decisive 90 runs. In the final over, Hardik Pandya scored 45 runs off 22 balls, with five sixes and two fours, to give Indian innings 252 runs. New Zealand’s Matt Henry was four, Trent Boult 3 and Jimmy Neesham took one wicket.

India won the series 4-1 for the fourth time in foreign soil

The Indian team has won the series 4-1 for the first time in test playing nation and outside of Asia. In 1997 India beat Pakistan 4-1 in Canada and then they defeated Sri Lanka in 2009 and in 2012. In 2006, India beat Pakistan 4-1 in Pakistan.
