Bengal cricketer Writam Porel discharged from hospital

Writam-PorelKolkata, Dec 26 : Bengal batsman Writam Porel, who was hospitalised last evening after being hit on his neck, was discharged today.

“There was no internal injury or fracture. He has been advised 10 days’ rest,” according to hospital sources.
The 26-year-old East Bengal cricketer was hit on the second day’s play in the final of the AN Ghosh Trophy, a three-day league tournament organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal, at Eden Gardens yesterday.
Fielding at forward short-leg with a helmet, Porel turned around to protect himself as the ball pulled by Bhowanipore batsman Prinan Datta hit on his neck.
He was rushed to the nearby Nightingale Hospital as it brought back the tragic memory former Bengal Under-19 captain Ankit Keshri who died at the same hospital after an onfield collision with a teammate.
“I was scared because Ankit was my team-mate, but it is all right. I’m fine,” Porel who has played 10 first-class matches for Bengal between 2010 and 2012 said.
