Beaten by Army XI coach referee left bleeding in CFL match

Kolkata: The fourth referee left bleeding as coach of the Army XI, B B Kakkar beat him after their match at Barasat stadium today. Referee Uttam Sarkar was attacked following complaint of mistake during changing of a player. Match referee lodged a complaint at Barasat police station.

The problem started at the last minute of the match between Army XI and Aryans. Aryans team wanted to change a player when it was one minute to go for the conclusion of the match. They fist issued the name of jersey no.24 Gautam Thakur to by ‘in’ the field. Suddenly before the change they replaced the jersey no. 24 player with jersey no. 11 Pitambar.

From this point the controvery began as fourth referee Uttam Sarkar kept the jersey number 24 on the changing board. As the match ended Army XI players and staffs jumped on the coach.

At first, the fourth referee tried to evade the Army players. But they thronged upon him. Then he put his hand in-front of the players to save himself. Suddenly the coach of the team B B Kakkar jumped on him and punched on his face.

The referee left bleeding. Police came forward to make the situation under control.However, Army XI coach denied of the complaint. He said, “I never hurt the referee. Referee did the mistake. We protested. The referee at first attacked us. Then we replied him.”Match commissioner Dipak Das lodged a complaint at the Barasat police station.
