BCCI Secretary Jay Shah to spearhead special committee by ICC to pitch for cricket in Brisbane Olympics 2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has been entrusted with a huge responsibility by the International Cricket Council to pitch cricket as a sporting discipline for Brisbane Olympics in 2032. The governing body of world cricket has formed a new committee after the International Olympics Committee has rejected ICC’s claim for cricket to be included at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

The new committee headed by the Asian Cricket Council will make a presentation to IOC to include cricket in 2032 Brisbane Games. As per reports, cricket’s pitch to be at the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 was ‘a pretty weak one’.

Cricket has only featured once at the 1900 Paris Olympic Games, with Great Britain and hosts France as the only participants. The sport marked a return to the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham with the women’s T20 format. The T10 format is being considered an option for the Olympics.
