BCCI makes Yo Yo test mandatory for players selection in national team? | What is DEXA test? |

Xtra Time Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in its Review Meeting held in Mumbai took a very significant decision for players selection in the national team. According to the BCCI media release, the Yo-Yo Test and Dexa will now be part of selection criteria and implemented in the customized roadmaps of the central pool of players.

YoYo test was there in place but due to some reasons it was not mandatory. But with so many players missing due to injuries, the board hierarchy in the Review Meeting held in Mumbai on Sunday made it a mandatory yard stick for selection along with DEXA testing.

What is DEXA test? Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry is a scientific method in which the Bone Mineral Density of a person is determined using a special technique known as spectral imaging. It is used to determine the bone strength and bone mineral density of a player.

The Yo-Yo Test makes its way back too. The BCCI has now made it mandatory for players to pass the Yo-Yo Test before they can make their way into the team. Apart from this and the crucial DEXA Test, the final call on the fitness standards of the player will remain under the authority of the NCA.

The issues of player workload management and fitness parameters were discussed at length during the meeting along with the roadmap to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 to be held in India later this year.
