BCCI likely to sign Adidas as apparel sponsor of Indian cricket team

Xtra Time Web Desk: Sports goods manufacturing giants Adidas is all set to sign a multi-year contract with BCCI as an apparel sponsor of the Indian cricket team. According to reports, Adidas will come on board as Indian cricket team jersey sponsor from June 01. Rohit Sharma and his team will sport the new Adidas jersey if they qualify for World Test Championship final which will be held at the Oval from June 07-11.

Currently, Killer Jeans is the jersey sponsor of the Indian team after it took over the rights from MPL Sports. But BCCI is looking to bring on board a renowned brand that is associated with sports.

MPL Sports (Mobile Premier League), who was the apparell sponsor from 2016 discontinued before the contract ended. BCCI approached Killer Jeans to come on board during the Bangladesh series.

BCCI roped in KKCL’s Killer Jeans as the new apparel sponsor. With most cricketers being sponsored by big sporting brands like Nike, Adidas or Puma, it hasn’t added any value. Hence, the BCCI started talks with Adidas.

Adidas has been associated with IPL franchise Mumbai Indians and England Cricket Team. Team India captain Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Rishabh Pant are also sponsored by Adidas.
