BCCI CEO Rahul Johri part ways with board, as resignation accepted finally

XtraTime Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri’s resignation was finally accepted by the board on Thursday as per reports by news agency PTI. Johri’s resignation from the BCCI has been long pending since he wrote to BCCI about relinquishing the post of CEO on December 27.

“Rahul Johri”s resignation has been a accepted. He was earlier given an extension till April 30 but this time it has been accepted,” a BCCI veteran told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

It could not be ascertained why the BCCI suddenly decided to accept his resignation.
Johri, who joined the BCCI in 2016, had earlier put in his papers after the new regime led by Sourav Ganguly took over the running of the cricket board. He was then asked to continue till the end of his contract, which is due to expire in 2021.

With the new regime handling most day to day affairs of the board, including matters related to ICC, Johri’s role was getting increasingly marginalized. Few in the know how of board politics feel, Johri was removed from the post after a letter about CAG nominee questioning against President and Secretary’s tenure was leaked recently.
