BCCI Apex Council Meeting: IPL likely to be shifted in Dubai, Team India camp likely in Ahmedabad

XtraTime Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Apex Council members met on Friday via teleconferencing to discuss a number of key agendas. The main agenda though was looking at the way forward as far as hosting the IPL 2020 is concerned. It is learnt that the cash rich league in all probability will be shifted to UAE because of the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. A final decision would be taken once the ICC postpones the T20 World Cup. The ICC will probably announce its decision after the board meeting on Monday. It was also discussed that the tentative windows for the cash rich league will be from September 26-November 08.
One of the main reasons for the cash rich league to be held in UAE is its easy accessibility. Another point which went in favor of UAE is the flight operations returning to normalcy. It is yet to be finalized whether a full fledged IPL season will be played in 2020 or it will be a curtailed one.
Another key agenda that was discussed in the meeting was the training camp for Indian players after the COVID-19 situation is improved.
Dharamsala and Ahmedabad were discussed as two options where a bio-bubble can be created but then Dharamsala was ruled out because of lack of accommodation. Ahmedabad now seems to be the place where training can happen if BCCI conducts a training camp for the players. It was said that Players cannot train at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) because of the existing situation with regards to Covid-19.
