Bangladesh players start individual training after a gap of four months

XtraTime Web Desk: As many as 10 Bangladesh cricketers started training personally at four different venues in the country on Sunday. The Bangladeshi cricketers were unable to train outside due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cricketers started outdoor training only after getting the nod from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).


Former Bangladesh test captain Mushfiqur Rahim was among the 10 cricketers who started training outdoor. Others include Mohammad Mithun, Shafiul Islam, Imrul Kayes, Khaled Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, Mahadi Hasan, Nurul Hasan, Mehedy Hasan and Nayeem Hasan. The cricketers will train outdoors till July 26. The individual training period may be extended after Eid if there is no domestic cricket or BCB decide to call a camp for group training.


In Dhaka, Mohammad Mithun, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shafiul Islam trained in the opening day while Khaled Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed had their training in Sylhet. Off-spinner Mehedy Hasan, along with Mahadi Hasan, Nurul Hasan completed their training in Khulna whereas Nayeem Hasan could not complete his training in Chattogram due to heavy rainfall. Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Dhaka, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong, Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS) in Khulna and Sylhet Divisional Stadium (SDS) in Sylhet were opened for the cricketers for their training purpose.
Cricketers from most test playing nations have either started playing or training outdoor with the exception of India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still undecided about starting any camp due to the rising cases of coronavirus in the country.
