But somehow it has so far failed to create the buzz that has been associated with the league. The broadcasters are scratching their head over TV ratings, while vacant seats at most venues during the first 10 days suggests the interest in the league is nowhere near the expected leagues. There are quite a few things missing in this edition of IPL. The absence of Harsha Bhogle in the commentary box has been the biggest talking point so far. But another individual was unceremoniously neglected by the franchises in the auction. While the likes of Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah , Pawan Negi, Barinder Saran and Manish Pandey are hogging the limelight in the cash rich league , another Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has kept himself confined in his plush apartment in Active Acres in South Kolkata. Tiwary, who finds himself not picked by any franchise in IPL auction held on February 06 owing to an injury, shared his views to Xtra Time. How difficult has it been watching the IPL on the TV sets rather than taking part in it? It does get frustrating for any cricketer to miss out on the action in the middle. At times I feel disappointed, but this is how life is. You have to take it in your stride and move on. I have been watching the matches on TV. Take us back to the time when you were neglected for the auction. How difficult was it to accept? Look, I will be lying if I say I was not disappointed. It took a while for me to accept it. But next moment I thought may be my injury resisted the franchises to pick me at the auction. Talking about the injury, was it that serious that would have forced you to stay away from IPL 9? I got injured during the Hyderabad match in Syed Mustaq Ali T20 tournament on January 02 at Vidharbha. The injured forced me out for a month. I played the Ranji quarter final against Madhya Pradesh in Mumbai from February 03, which was exactly a month later. Doctor did suggest me to take rest and start playing from the semi final if Bengal qualifies. But for me playing the Ranji Quarter Final was always a priority. I wanted Bengal to reach the semi final. But it did not go the way we looked at as we lost the match by 355 runs. Unfortunately, the century I scored in the second innings did not help the cause of the team. I was not in any sort of discomfort during my innings. I would have been absolutely fit by the time IPL 9 started on April 09 as there was a gap of two months from the auction till the actual start of the tournament. So, was it just a miscommunication about your fitness? I would feel so as I was getting fit. Apart from Wriddhiman Saha, no one from Bengal is a regular in their respective teams? Md Shami too was coming back from an injury. Shami did play in the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. It’s a bit unfortunate for Dinda, but I feel he will get a chance surely. Which team has impressed you the most so far in IPL 9 and looks likely to make it to the play offs? Kolkata Knight Riders seems to be the most balanced team so far. The team is packed with match winners. I believe they will surely make it to the play offs. Another team that has impressed me is Gujarat Lions. It is really surprising to see them do well winning three match at a stretch. McCullum, Bravo and Aaron Finch are making a difference.
