Xtra Time Web Desk: Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza is just two matches away from a fairty-tale ending to her career. Pairing Rohan Bopanna, Sania has entered the semi final of mixed doubles event. The Indian pair received a walkover in their quarterfinals.

Sania and Bopanna were pitted against Latvian and Spanish pair of Jelena Ostapenko and David Vega Hernandez for a place in semi-final. But the Indian mixed doubles pair received a walk-over in the quarter-final.

The Indian pair defeated the Uruguayan and Japanese pair of Ariel Behar and Makato Ninomiya 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) on way to the last 8.

Sania had already announced that the ongoing Australian Open would be her final Grand Slam. After making it to the semi-finals, Sania would be hoping she can go all the way and add another Grand Slam title to her name.

They now await the winner of the quarterfinal between the pairs of third-seeded Desirae Krawczyk and Neal Skupski and Taylor Townsend and Jamie Murray.

Earlier in the women’s doubles Sana and her Kazakh partner Anna Danilina lost to Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck and Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina in three sets.
