Australian Open 2023: Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna reach the final of mixed doubles event

Xtra Time Web Desk: Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza is just one match away from a fairy-tale ending to her career. Pairing Rohan Bopanna, Sania has entered the final of mixed doubles event. The Indian pair defeated the third-seeded pair of England’s Neal Skupski and United States’ Desirae Krawczyk 7-6 (4), 6-7 (5), (10-6).

The Indian mixed doubles pair received a walk-over in the quarter-final. Sania and Bopanna defeated the Uruguayan and Japanese pair of Ariel Behar and Makato Ninomiya 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) on way to the last 8.

Sania had already announced that the ongoing Australian Open would be her final Grand Slam. After making it to the semi-finals, Sania would be hoping she can go all the way and add another Grand Slam title to her name.

Earlier in the women’s doubles Sana and her Kazakh partner Anna Danilina lost to Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck and Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina in three sets.
