Image Source: File Pic[/caption] Internet Desk: Plans to regenerate the site of the Estadio Vicente Calderon have been upheld by Madrid's Tribunal Superior Justice. The proposal, which would have seen Atletico Madrid's stadium and the neighbouring Mahou brewery demolished in order to build two skyscrapers and 2,000 new houses, was rejected on Saturday. Local authorities ruled against the original Mahou-Calderon project, originally approved in 2009, last year after it breached maximum height restrictions. The court's ruling, which remains subject to appeal, nullifies the internal reform to the blueprint put forward in 2014, which Ecologistas en Accion appealed the following year. Atletico are set to leave their long-standing home in order to take up residency at the Estadio Olimpico de Madrid from the 2017-18 season.
