Asia Cup T20 in serious doubts. Find why?

XtraTime Web Desk: The forthcoming Asia Cup T20 looks to be in serious doubts following the postponement of the meeting by Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to finalise the possible multiple venues for the tournament. The tournament was supposed to be held in Pakistan. With India having no chance to travel to its cross border neighbor due to the prevailing political climate, UAE was thought as a prospective venue.

However, due to COVID-19, ACC had to earlier cancel their scheduled meeting earlier this month and they hoped that discussions will continue in the sidelines of the ICC meeting which will now take place via video link.

The ACC meeting has gained importance after BCCI President Sourav Ganguly’s statement that they are not in a position to travel to Pakistan in September due to the current political scenario. He also made it clear that BCCI have no problems taking part in the tournament at any other venue.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also considering the option of requesting the ACC executive board to allow it to host some matches of the Asia Cup T20 against other teams like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh or Afghanistan at home even if it is decided to hold the tournament at a neutral venue.
