Asia Cup 2022: Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel not included in Indian squad due to injury; KL Rahul named vice-captain

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a huge blow for the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah has not been included in the upcoming Asia Cup squad along with Harshal Patel. Both Bumrah and Harshal are carrying injuries as per a statement from the BCCI and was hence not picked for the squad. They will be both undergoing their rehab at the National Cricket Academy.

The selectors have not only named KL Rahul in the side but the stylish Karnataka batter has been named as the vice-captain of the side. As expected, Virat Kohli is in the squad despite going through poor form.

With Jasprit Bumrah ruled out, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the pace attack. However, Deepak Chahar despite being fit and included in the ODI side for the tour to Zimbabwe is not included in Asia Cup squad. He has been kept as a standby along with Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel.

Neither Ishan Kishan nor Sanju Samson, were picked in the Asia Cup squad. Ravi Bishnoi has pipped Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel to find a place in the squad.

India have decided to go with four spinners with Deepak Hooda as a part-time option. But there are only three specialist spinners while Hardik Pandya is the other seam bowling option.
