Ashwin surpasses another world cricket legend in Test cricket

XtraTime Web Desk: Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin went passed the record of former South African pace bowler Allan Donald by taking 332 wickets in the first test against West Indies at Rajkot.

Ashwin claimed four wickets in West Indies’ first innings and then took one more in the second to go past Donald on the tally of highest Test wicket-takers.

Ashwin dismissed Shai Hope (10), Roston Chase (53), Sherman Lewis ((0) and Shannon Gabriel (1) in the first innings and then removed West Indies captain Carlos Brathwaite (10) in the second innings to achieve the feat.

Ashwin is now 24th on the overall tally of most Test wickets.

He is also the fourth highest Indian Test wicket-taker, behind Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434) and Harbhajan Singh (417).

Ashwin is also the seventh spinner on the list of all-time highest wicket-takers.

Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralithran is on top of the tally with 800 Test wickets under his belt.
