Xtra Time Web Desk: Ravichandran Ashwin (42 off 62) and Shreyas Iyer (29 off 46) weathered the storm as they stitched an invaluable 71 runs for the 8th wicket to pull off a thrilling 3 wickets win over Bangladesh in the second test here at the Sher e Bangla stadium on Saturday. It was a perfect Christmas gift for the Indian team as they made a clean sweep in the two match test series against Bangladesh. KL Rahul and his boys won the first test at Chittagong by 188 runs.
Requiring exactly 100 runs to win the test, India had a disastrous beginning on Day 4, losing overnight batter Jaydev Unadkat for 13 runs. He was out leg before to Shakib al Hasan. Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled a magical spell as he got rid of dangerous Rishabh Pant (9 off 13) and Axar Patel (34 off 69) in quick succession to reduce the score to 74/7.
When it looked like Bangladesh will pull off a miraculous win, Ashwin and Shreyas maintained their temperament and stitched a match-winning 71-run unbeaten partnership to complete the clean sweep 2-0 against Bangladesh.
The win will help India to stay in the race for the final of World Test Championship. They will next take on Australia in the four match test series at home.
