Ashes 2021-22, 3rd Test : Australia seal the Ashes as they crush England by an innings and 14 runs

Xtra Time Web Desk : Australia on Tuesday took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the Ashes 2021-22 as they crushed England by an innings and and 14 runs in the Boxing day Test Match at Melbourne.


The third Test started at a negative note for England as their batting woes continued. Joe Root’s team got bundled out in the first innings for a mere score of 168 runs as a result of some brilliant bowling by the Australians.
Although the English bowlers made a slight come to stack all of Australia’s wicket for a score of 267 in the first innings courtesy of a brilliant spell from James Anderson.


But in the second innings, the English batting fell apart like anything as they got all out for just 68 as Scott Boland took a brilliant 6 wicket haul in his debut Test match to seal the Ashes and the one sided boxing day Test by an innings and 14 runs. The England captain Root was the highest scorer for England in the second innings with 28 runs.


The fourth and next Ashes Test is to be played from 5th January, 2022 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
