Xtra Time Web Desk: The legendary Team India all rounder, Madon Lal gave his verdict on Cheteshwar Pujara’s off form and expressed his doubts over Pujara’s place in the Team as he has opined that the fellow teammates of his will eventually push him out of the Playing XI.

Pujara couldn’t score any runs on the Day 1 of first India vs SA Test series on Sunday. With his 9th duck in test at No. 3 Pujara set an unwanted record as he went past Dilip Vengsarker. It was also his second golden duck in his career. Pujara got dismissed by Lungi Ngidi caught short leg as the he took the long back in the second session.

In an interview with India Today, the legendary Team India all rounder gave his verdict about the 33 year old’s performance and said, “Pujara is struggling. There is no two ways about it. There are players in the squad who can push him out of the XI. At No. 3, even the captain needs a player you can hold the innings and get some runs at the same time. At times, Pujara gets stuck way too much. So clearly, he is struggling.”

Now, with other players being around that spot, it would be interesting to see how he bounces back with more number of runs as Team India’s no. 3 in Tests.
