Arshdeep Singh mimics Shikhar Dhawan after receiving ODI cap from India captain; Umran Malik too makes debut | Watch video

Xtra Time Web Desk: Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik is making their debut for India in the first ODI against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland. The left arm pacer chose to mimic Shikhar Dhawan’s signature style celebration after he was handed over his ODI cap by Indian captain. Umran Malik received his cap from bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule.

Arshdeep has been rewarded for his good showing in T20 format for India. He was recently part of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia and also played the two T20Is against the BlackCaps.

Umran Malik on the other hand was handed his ODI cap after having made his T20I debut earlier this year. The speedster from Jammu and Kashmir has played only 3 List A matches, bowling 25 overs for 2 wickets. Umran has so far played 3 T20Is for India and has impressed everyone with his pace. Unfortunately, he did not get an opportunity in the recently concluded T20I series against the BlackCaps.

With the 50 over World Cup to be held in India next year, the Indian team management is looking at different options and giving an opportunity to both these young pacers are part of that process.
