Xtra Time Web Desk: The victorious Indian team returned back home after their historic series win in Australia on Thursday. The players reached their respective cities from Dubai. Ajinkya Rahane and his boys defeated Australia 2-1 at Gabba. Hero of the Gabba test win Rishabh Pant was spotted at the Delhi airport while Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw along with Head Coach Ravi Shastri arrived in Mumbai airport. Due to the pandemic there were not too many fans around at the airport to give the players a heroes’ welcome.

“I am so happy that we retained the trophy. The whole team is very happy with the way we played the series,” Rishabh Pant told news agency ANI at the airport.

Team India's stand in captain Ajinkya Rahane was given a heroes' welcome at his residential complex at . Rahane and his family were showered flowers as they entered their home.

The homecoming, however, is going to be a short one for the players as they all are expected to assemble once again with the rest of the members of the team for another big series against England.

The fact that the England assignment is at home does give the players some breathing space but they all would be expected to remain in a bubble as cricket resumes in India for the first time in the Covid era.

With the series set to begin on February 05, the Indian players are expected to regroup by January 29.
