AIFF speaks with East Bengal to discuss the fate of Abhinas Ruidas

Kolkata: July 23 marks an important date in the history of Indian footballers. As many as 199 footballers name has been enlisted in the draft of the upcoming ISL where the players would be bought by the 8 franchisee teams. The list has been sent to all the franchisee teams today.

Amidst controversies surrounding a particular footballer, Abhinas Ruidas’s name has been reportedly seen in the draft list. A day before the commencement of the draft, a base price of 18 lakhs has also been allotted beside his name positioned at the 180th position which previously was kept as TBD (To Be Decided).

Kushal Das the Secretary of the Federation said that he had spoken with Debabrata Sarkar and Utpal Ganguly regarding the matter and after consulting with them we took the decision of placing Abhinas’s name in the list however the decision of the Player’s committee would be final.

“Despite having problems with a footballer, I would like to compliment Debabrata Sarakar and Utpal Ganguly for not taking away the ball from the feet of the player” said Kushal Das regarding the contract dispute between East Bengal officials and Abhinas Ruidas.

However it is to see whether any team selects the player after his recent contract troubles. Earlier East Bengal claimed that Abhinas was their player and had submitted his token to the IFA board and on the other hand Abhinas claiming him to be a free agent enlisted his name in the ISL draft.

On the other hand the practice sessions of Mohun Bagan was called off due to rain. As a result a class of dope testing was held to increase the awareness. All the footballers attended the class which was held by Dr. Pratim Roy.
