AFC gives strong punishment to Mohun Bagan for breaking FIFA rules

Kolkata: Mohun Bagan to face a serious punishment for breaking AFC rules during their last AFC Cup Qualifying game against Club Valencia of Maldives at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium. The AFC has informed the club that because of the fire works on the playing surface during the game, the Bagan officials have to pay 5000 USD as fine. According to FIFA rules, it’s a punishable offence and the AFC took steps by following the norms.

The news will no doubt be a strong punishment for the Green and Maroon brigade and will certainly keep the Bagan match organizers much alert when they will play their next group stage game there. On the other hand, both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal officials will have their respective executive committee meeting tomorrow to discuss about the plans if they want to play the newly proposed merger league of the IMG-R.
