Internet Desk: An era of Indian shooting ends as the lone individual Gold Medalist of India sent good bye to the sports. Today it was the last day with shooting as is declared by Abhinav Bindra.

It was known previously that Abhinav Bindra will send off shooting after the Rio Olympics. But how far the declaration was not coming out from the Gold Medalist shooter, it remained unofficial. On Sunday evening he announced of his retirement.

“It is an emotional day for me,” he said.

However, at the time of announcing his retirement the sadness of not getting a medal from Rio came out in his tone.

“At Rio, I finished fourth in the men’s 10m air rifle event and couldn’t get a medal. I had given it all at the Rio shooting range. I have always believed in a process driven approach and that’s what I did in Rio. I have nothing more to deliver at the range as I hang up my boots,” said the 33 year old in his parting speech.

Bindra was last month appointed as the chairman of a review committee formulated by the NRAI to “examine and identify in a cold and ruthless manner” the reason as to why shooting failed.

“I have always believed in working hard. There is no substitute to hard work. I have given my all shooting and have got even more. Thank you once again everyone,” he added.
