XtraTime Web Desk – Hardly anyone thought that India will be dominating the boxing day test specially when they were down and out at Adelaide in the first test. Lots have happened since then. Virat Kohli came back to India, Mohammed Shami ruled out of the series and on this match, Umesh Yadav suffered an injury.
Amidst all this, Ajinkya Rahane and his team showed great determination and aggression and brought the series into level terms after two tests.
Everyone on internet are praising Ajinkya Rahane for not only his batting but also his captaincy. The way he changed the bowlers during their spell is one to remember. Equal credit goes to all the bowlers. They have even brilliant throughout the series even without the likes of Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma.
Australia put up a total of 200 runs after Cameron Green and Pat Cummins’ partnership failed to make a mark. India had a target of 70 runs which was chased down pretty easily. Rahane contributed 27* while Gill scored 35* to win the boxing day test.
This was no doubt a monumental victory for India. People will talk about this even after few years because of the conditions India were in! The bravery, aggression and most importantly the determination gave India a memorable win at MCG.
