Will Chris Gayle be available for the Windies in the limited overs series against India?

XtraTime Web Desk: Though the Jamaican sensation Chris Gayle isn’t in the Windies Test squad which is currently touring India but there were some hope that the limited-overs team will get the service of the fiery opener in the later in the tour.




But if the sources are to be believed Chris Gayle ‘has declined selection’ for the ODI series against India as he will be playing Afghanistan Premier League on that time for the Balkh Legends.




Till now the Windies cricket board has given an NOC to Gayle from October 7 to October 21 to take part in the Afghanistan Premier League. The ODI series against the Men in Blue will begin in Guwahati on October 21 and the last ODI will be played on November 1 in Thiruvananthapuram.

It is still unclear whether the Jamaican sensation would be available during the T20I series as well which will beginning in Kolkata from November 4. There is a possibility that the Windies board will announce the ODI squad in a couple of days time.




In the NOC the Windies board also made it clear that Gayle’s selection for the forthcoming 2019 World Cup is ‘not guaranteed and neither it is automatic.’ The letter states that the ‘selection is and will continue to be subject to the consideration of the selection panel.




Gayle though posted on hi twitter handle that he will be there in Sharjah to play the inaugural.“I am coming to Sharjah to light up the Afghanistan Premier League. Come and join me and support my team #Balkh. All the best to @aplt20official for the newest T20 league in Cricket!” Gayle tweeted.
