Indian captain Virat Kohli credited the effort of entire team for the win. "The boys applied themselves really well. Jadeja and Ashwin batted really well in the deep in the 1st innings. With the ball, it took some character to get some early wickets on Day 3. I'm still pretty early in my captaincy career and I look for advice. We need to be a bit more patient when the wickets aren't coming. The most important thing in Test cricket is having contributions from lower order and tailenders. Everyone wants to contribute with the bat. It's been a memorable Test match and it's been a very good Test match. New Zealand showed good resilience and resistance. They showed great character." While Kohli’s counterpart Kane Williamson feel they can take a lot of positives from the match. According to Williamson, "There were a lot of positives to be taken from the match. Credit to India. They outplayed us with bat and ball. There was 2 sessions that cost us. To start off by restricting them was good from us. At the end of the day, India outplayed us. Ronchi and Santner were fantastic. The way Santner applied himself with the bat and ball was great. The next few days are about recovery. It's important they recover for Kolkata.
