2nd Test : Shami pick four wickets as Australia bowled out for 263 runs on Day 1 | INDvAUS

Xtra Time Web Desk: It was much improved performance from the Australian batting unit especially Usman Khawaja (81) and Peter Handscombe (72*) as they put up a respectable 263 runs on board after winning toss on Day 1 of the second test match at Arun Jaitley stadium on Friday. At stumps, India were 21 for 0, trailing Australia by 242 runs

After being bowled out for 177 and 91 in both innings respectively in Nagpur, Australian batters Khawaja and Handscombe showed much better application against the Indian bowlers.

Australian captain Pat Cummins also showed a lot of grit but the others in the line-up failed to put any kind of pressure on the India bowlers.

David Warner’s miseries on this tour continued after he was dismissed by Shami following a half-century opening stand with Usman Khawaja. Marnus Labuschagne looked good for his 18 but he was done in by R Ashwin, who trapped the Australian No.3 on his pads and then convinced Rohit Sharma to opt for the DRS. The off-spinner yet again out-thinking Smith as he got Smith out for a duck.

For India, Mohammed Shami was the wrecker in chief, picking 4 wickets (4/60). He was well supported by Ravichandran Ashwin (3 for 57) and Ravindra Jadeja (3 for 68).
