1st ODI: Prasidh Krishna, Krunal Pandya makes debut, no place for Suryakumar Yadav

Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders medium pacer Prasidh Krishna and Mumbai Indians all rounder Krunal Pandya were given their India caps in the 1st ODI between India and England at MCA stadium in Pune on Tuesday. Krunal, who has already made his debut for India in T20Is was handed over his cap by his brother Hardik. It was quite an emotional moment for Krunal as he raised his hand towards the sky in remembrance of his late father.

It was a huge moment for Karnataka medium pacer Prasidh Krishna who on Tuesday made his India debut alongside Krunal. The KKR bowler has played 48 List A games, bagging 81 wickets at an average of 23.07.

The 25-year-old has been impressive in the domestic circuit for the last 4-5 years with incredible performances in Vijay Hazare Trophy in the 2017-18 season. He was the second-highest wicket-taker (17), behind Mohammed Siraj in the season where his team Karnataka went on to take the title.He followed it up with another successful season in 2019-20 where he once again took 17 wickets.

However there was no place for Suryakumar Yadav in the playing XI. It was expected that the Mumbai batsman will be given a chance following his impressive show in the recently concluded T20Is against England.
