1st Ashes Test, Day 4: England need 7 wickets while Australia requires 174 runs more to win on final day

Xtra Time Web Desk: It has been an engrossing battle on Day 4 of the first Ashes test at Edgbaston. Chasing 281 runs to win, Australian openers David Warner (36) and Usman Khawaja (34*) made a solid start, adding 61 runs for the opening wicket before Ollie Robinson removed Warner. Stuart Broad’s late strikes to remove Marnus Labuschagne (13) and Steve Smith (4) has brought England back into the test match. Australia at stumps on Day 4 are 107 for 3.

All three results are possible including a draw in this seesawing test match as weather forecast is not promising for the final day.

Australia have not chased a target this steep to win an Ashes Test since 1948 but one issue for England could be off-spinner Moeen Ali, who struggled through the pain of a blistered finger once again, raising doubts over how much he will be able to bowl on the final day.

Earlier England were bowled out for 273, with Joe Root and Harry Brook top-scoring with 46 apiece. The hosts added 63 for the final three wickets. For Australia Pat Cummins (4-63) and Nathan Lyon (4-80) starred with the ball.
