10-men SC East Bengal drew 0-0 with Chennaiyin FC

XtraTime Web Desk – Another draw for SC East Bengal in Indian Super League as the Bangal Brigade locked 0-0 with Chennaiyin FC after 90 minutes.

Coach Robbie Fowler dropped Steinmann and played Anthony Pilkington, Maghoma and Bright Enobakhare upfront. Thus, their strategy and intention was clear from first.

Chennai started strong. They played their natural attacking game and created opportunities and so did SC East Bengal after the opening minutes. SC East Bengal quickly changed their game and played attacking football holding the possession and Chennaiyin failed to counter.

They got a chance in the 15th minute but Debjit Majumdar was there to collect the ball easily. This was the start of the ‘Save-jit’ show. In the 24th minute, he once again made a brilliant stop which could’ve given Chennaiyin the lead.

The match was evenly poised as both the teams looked to counter their opponent whenever they were winning the ball. Ajay Chhetri, the newest recruit however received a red in the 31st minute and SC East Bengal had to play majority of the match with one man down.

In the 43rd minute, Chennaiyin got a great chance to go ahead as Rahim Ali recieved the ball, beats Debjit as he passed the ball horizontally. Narayan Das covered the ball well as no danger was done. The first half ended 0-0.

In the 51st minute, SC East Bengal got a really good chance to go ahead but Pilkington failed to make a mark as the match remained 0-0. Chennaiyin quickly countered as Isma took a long range shot in the 55th minute but Debjit Majumdar made a brilliant stop.

Pilkington once again got a decent opportunity to fire but Vishal Kaith stood tall to deny the forward. Debjit was already looking unstoppable but his save in the 84th minute proved the fact that it’s his day and Chennaiyin players needs to do something very very special to beat him.

Pilkington got some amazing opportunities to score but he couldn’t capitalize in any of the opportunities. On the other hand, Debjit denied all the chances Chennaiyin created as thus the match ended 0-0.

SC East Bengal remained 9th in the table with 12 points from 12 games while Chennaiyin has 15 points from 12 games.
