Chess enthusiasts to get a favoured gift as Kolkata to witness the biggest Rapid Rating Chess Tournament in the city tomorrow. www.xtratime.in to present All India Rapid Fide Rating Chess Tournament on 17th and 18th of this month. Around 150 participants will glitter in a fierce competition to grab a lucrative prize money of Rs.6,00,000. The top seed is GM R R Laxman of Tamil Nadu as a total of 3 GMs and 4 IMs are taking part.

Reigning National Rapid Chess Champion GM Neelotpal Das, GM Saptarshi Roy Chowdhury, Reigning National Blitz Champion IM Prantik Roy, former National Sub Junior and National Under 25 Champion IM Somak Palit, IM Suvrajit Saha and GM-elect IM Arghyadip Das are the titled players creating one of the strongest line ups in an All India Rapid Rating Chess Tournament in West Bengal Chess history.Participants from 8 different states of the country have confirmed their participation. They are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

This tournament will give the participants an immense opportunity to test the waters and practice against the stalwarts of the country before National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship which is supposed to take place in 3 months.

The tournament has 135 prizes across various categories to encourage all players who barely get time to play chess and give them a reason to come back to their favorite sport and showcase their skill.

Venue was chosen as Khudiram Anushilan Kendra as Chess has a long history of holding various State and National Championships there. These days there are barely any tournament gets hosted there. It is an opportunity to relive old glory and create new memory for many of those who have played there multiple times before.
