Women’s World T20: Ashleigh Gardner the star as Australia clinch their fourth title





XtraTime Web Desk: Australian women’s cricket team has clinched their fourth World 20 title as they thump England by 8 wickets at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Sunday. He Australian eves earlier won the prestigious trophy back in 2010, 2012 and 2014.  Ashleigh Gardner was the star of the match with her all-round effort as the Aussies held back England in all parts of the game. The English women didn’t look in much control throughout the game as their nine players didn’t reach the double digit too.




It was opener Danielle Wyatt and skipper Heather Knight who showed some resistance with scores of 43 and 25 as England somehow managed to cross the 100-run mark before being bowled out for a paltry 105 in 19.4 overs.




Off-spinner Gardner was the wreaker-in-chief with figures of 3/22 from her four overs while Georgia Wareham and Megan Schutt also chipped in with a couple of wickets each.




Australia then comfortably chased down the target in 15.1 overs, losing just two wickets.




After doing immensely well with the ball, Gardner shine with the bat as well as she played an unbeaten knock of 33 runs in just 26 deliveries.  On the other hand skipper Meg Lanning too remained 28 not out as the Aussies won the game with an ease.
