Internet Desk: A former member of the Supreme Court appointed, Committee of Administrators (CoA) Ramachandra Guha took a dig at the BCCI on Sunday for “public humiliation” of Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan.

Earlier on Saturday, the CoA said that the support staffs of the Indian cricket team will be appointed after they consult the matter with the newly appointed head coach Ravi Shastri and they have put the appointments of Zaheer and Dravid on hold as bowling and batting consultant for the overseas tour respectively.

“The shameful treatment of Anil Kumble has now been compounded by the cavalier treatment of Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid,” said Guha on Twitter.

“Kumble, Dravid and Zaheer were true greats of the game who gave it all on the field. They did not deserve this public humiliation,” he added.

Head of CoA, Vinod Rai also said that Shastri will meet four-member committee of the BCCI for the selection of the support staff of the Indian cricket team.

“We have set up a committee of Diana Edulji, Acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary, acting president of the board CK Khanna and CEO Rahul Johri as a convener, who will speak to them and Ravi Shastri and make the selection of the other coaches,” he said.

On the other hand, the outgoing CoA member Vikram Limaye thinks, the board could have managed the Kohli-Kumble matter a lot better. Limaye left the committee on Saturday to take over as the Managing Director and CEO of National Stock Exchange (NSE).

“It is now very clear that there were issues (between Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble) that existed. I certainly believe that those issues could have been brought to people’s attention a lot earlier, so that the situation could have been managed better. It was brought to our (COA) attention last minute. Those who were aware of the issue should have raised it earlier; two months earlier, three months earlier; when they got to know of it. Kumble was appointed for one year and not that these were age-old issues,” he said.

He thinks the outcome wouldn’t have been different. “I don’t think the outcome would have necessarily been different. The reality is that people, including the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) members, tried to reconcile (the differences). But if the differences were not reconcilable, the outcome would have been the same. But the COA would have been prepared, rather than doing things in a rush,” Limaye told The Sunday Express.
