Internet Desk: Australia’s legendary fast bowler Jason Gillespie on Sunday said he might think of managing the Indian cricket team in near future after former team director Ravi Shastri was appointed as the head coach of the team by BCCI.

“I think it would have been a wonderful job and I congratulate Ravi Shastri on getting that job, maybe one day in a couple of years that’d be something I’d seriously consider,” Gillespie was quoted saying cricket.com.au

Earlier on Tuesday night, the BCCI appointed the former Indian all-rounder Ravi Shastri as the teams new head coach after legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble stepped down from the post after the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The board also named Zaheer Khan as bowling consultant and Rahul Dravid as batting consultant during the overseas tour.

The 42-year tall fast bowler revealed that he was a bit confused whether he would apply for the top job, which kept him away from the chair of India coach this time.

“I talked a lot about that with my family, I had days where I thought, right, I’m definitely applying for it, I’m going to have a crack and see how far I get.”

“Other days where I wasn’t so sure. In the end, I just felt I wasn’t quite ready for that opportunity,” Gillespie said.

In his cricketing career, Gillespie had taken 259 Test wickets in 71 matches and 142 wickets in 97 ODIs. He wore the Baggie Green cap from 1996 to 2006.
