Xtra Time Web Desk: Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli showcased his exceptional soccer skills during a meeting with former England and Manchester United legend David Beckham at the Wankhede Stadium ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-final against New Zealand on Wednesday. Beckham, serving as a UNICEF ambassador was at the venue to witness the semi-final game.

A video posted on Beckham's Instagram story captured the two sporting icons exchanging passes with a football, highlighting Kohli's versatility beyond cricket. The Inter Miami owner engaged in a brief chat with Kohli, inquiring about the Indian captain's feelings ahead of the crucial semi-final clash. Kohli responded positively, drawing a comparison between the Wankhede atmosphere and the electric ambiance of English Premier League games at Old Trafford.

The memorable encounter took place on a historic day for Kohli, who secured his name in the record books by notching up his 50th ODI century at the Wankhede Stadium. The achievement unfolded in the presence of cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sir Viv Richards, adding an extra layer of significance to the moment.

For Beckham, it marked his first live experience of a cricket match in India during the World Cup, turning out to be an unforgettable occasion as Kohli's incredible milestone overshadowed the event. Speaking to the host broadcaster during the innings break, Beckham said: “It's just a real pleasure to actually be in this stadium and witness a piece of history. You know obviously I've spent some time today with Sachin and I know what he achieved in this stadium and I know what he achieved for his country and the sport, but then to see Virat do it today. It is truly incredible. You can see the atmosphere at the stadium. I've come to India for the first time, at the right time. I've been here for Diwali, I've been here for New Year and now I'm here for my first game in the World Cup and it's very special.”

The exchange between these two sporting legends added an intriguing dimension to the already captivating semi-final match.
