Kolkata: East Bengal General Secretary Kalyan Majumder once again questions the responsibility of the team and their chances to win the I-League this season. It was the 17th death anniversary of former East Bengal General Secretary Paltu Das and after completing his speech Kalyan once again mocked his team when he was asked if he wanted to sit with the players ahead of the last four games of this season. He said, “Do they come to collect their cheques to me? So why should I beg full points from them?”. Not just that, when former legend Manoranjan Bhattacharya told East Bengal still has chances to win the league, Kalyan didn’t hesitate to mock him as well. He said, “Yes East Bengal can still win it, but only in dreams!”

Kalyan Majumder literally denied any conversation with either The AIFF or the IMG-R regarding the proposed merger of the leagues. He said, “Neither the AIFF nor the Ambanis informed us anything of such kinds. Right now we don’t have any information about its probability.”

The East Bengal ground is now well decorated and the works of installing the flood lights are also towards the final steps. But Kalyan sparked another controversy by saying, “If the police gives the permission we’ll play under lights. It depends on them. But we don’t have the infrastructure to host I-League matches at the club.”
