Internet Desk: Many cricket pundits recently criticized former Indian cricket team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni should think about his retirement to make way for the new lads for the betterment of the team. Though the veteran wicket-keeper batsman again showed why he is so important in the side during India’s last game against Sri Lanka at Dharamsala. The Men in Blue could only manage to score 112 runs before getting all-out on a batting friendly track, where Dhoni was the lone warrior as he scored 65 runs from 87 deliveries.

The Jharkhand maestro today showed the world that he can beat any youngster in the field too. In a video it was seen that Dhoni outran India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in a 100m race during the team’s training ahead of the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Mohali.

BCCI tweeted the video which stated, “A quick 100 metre dash between @msdhoni and @hardikpandya7. Any guesses on who won it in the end? #TeamIndia #INDvSL.”

The star wicket-keeper only need 109 more runs to complete his ten thousand runs in ODI cricket. He will be the 4th Indian to reach this milestone and would join the greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. Dhoni also has the 4th most ODI runs among the Indians in the ongoing season. He has a brilliant batting average of 131 against the Lankans in his last 8 ODI innings against them. He has scored four half-centuries in those eight innings.

Dhoni’s record at Mohali is mesmerizing too as he has 2nd most ODI runs at this very venue. He just needs to score 11 more runs to ovartake legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

The Men in Blue are currently playing a do-or-die game against Sri Lanka at Mohali. They faced a humiliating seven-wicket defeat in the opening game against the Lankans.
