XtraTime Web Desk: Indian cricket team’s captain Virat Kohli has reportedly decided to play county cricket for the renowned team Surrey in coming June, to improve his batting performance in the forthcoming India’s Tour of England. As per reported by TOI, the Delhi boy is set to miss Afghanistan’s historic Test debut against India which will be played in Bengaluru from June 14. Kohli will travel to England after the completion of Indian Premier League 2018.

As per sources, the India skipper has taken this decision as he is desparate to improve his batting in England, where he hasn’t been able to score at his best. Kohli has played five Tests in England so far and only scored 134 runs with a horrible avarage of 13.4. If he finally joins Surrey, he will become the first Indian batsman to join this side, where many great cricketers played during their county stint.

According to the report, Kohli will play three four-day matches against Hampshire, Somerset and Yorkshire which will be played in between June 9 and June 28.

The Indian captain won’t be the only person to play county cricket to prepare himself ahead of the England tour. Another Indian top order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara who remained unsold in the IPL players auction 2018, will also take part in the forthcoming county championship for Yorkshire, which is set to begin from April 7.

The Men in Blue will play five Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is against England. The first Test will start from August 1 at the Edgbaston.
