Vijay Hazare Trophy : Dhoni’s miserable form continues with the bat .

Yuvraj-with-Punjab-teamKolkata ,December 15 : Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s  miserable run continues in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy .The Indian ODI captain scored just one runs but that did not stop Jharkhand  from winning  against Karnataka. Jharkhand strengthened  their position at the top of the table with the win . Defending champions Karnataka’s poor run continued as they are in the bottom half of the table. Batting first Jharkhand rode on half centuries from Ishank Jaggi and sizeable contributions by Saurabh  Tiwary(43) and Kumar Deobrat (47*) as they posted a total of 217 runs. Debutatnt left-arm spinner  Sonu Kumar Singh and Shahbaz  Nadeem rattled the Karnataka batting line up by sharing  six wickets between them. J Suchith took four wickets for Karnataka.

Yuvraj  Singh continued his good form as he batted Punjab  to victory with a blistering 78 against Rajasthan. Batting first Rajasthan registered a total of 270 runs. Opener MN Singh scored his maiden century.  Jiwanjot Singh set the tone with a 66 run knock. Yuvraj then finished the game with an unbeaten 78. His innings included two sixes and ten boundaries.

Hyderabad won their first match of the tournament by beating Assam by 72 runs. Tanmay Agarwal’s 83 and captain GH Vihari’s 51 helped Hyderabad  post 217 in first innings. In reply Assam  were bowled out for 199. Ravi Kiran and CV Milind took three wickets each.

In another match Mumbai defeated Services by 6 wickets. Shardul Thakur single handedly bowled out services for 151. He took 4 wickets for 19 runs. Dhawal Kulkarni, Iqbal Abdullah and Shashank Singh claimed two wickets each. Mumbai easily romped home to victory losing just 4 wickets . Ajinkya Rahane was not out for 10 runs.

Captain Karn Sharma led from the front as Railways beat J&K in a low scoring match. Batting first Railways was bowled out for a mere 200. Captain Karn Sharma scored a fighting 60. Karn then returned to claim two wickets as he guided his team to a 43 runs win.

Gujarat scored a modest 259 batting first. Parthiv Patel scored 45 runs. Defending 259 runs, Gujarat’s pace attack bowled the team to a 28-run win over Haryana  to keep them in the race for a place in the knock-outs.

AndhraPradesh defeated Odisha by 55 runs. AG Pradeep was the highest scorer with an unbeaten 102 as Andhra Pradesh  posted a healthy 261runs . Siva Kumar returned with his maiden four wicket haul as Odisha were bowled out for 206 runs .

Aditya Waghmode(77*) and Deepak Hooda(58*) took Baroda to a emphatic 8 wicket win over Maharashtra. Earlier Bhargav Bhatt’s maiden four wicket restricted Maharashtra to176 for nine.
