Xtra Time Web Desk: Ruturaj Gaikwad on Wednesday scored a brilliant 85 ball hundred (136) in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021-22 match against Madhya Pradesh. The Maharashtra captain scored 136 runs off 112 balls before getting caught out to Bhandari off the bowling of Venkatesh Iyer.
Ruturaj, who was named the captain of his state side hit 14 boundaries and 4 sixes during his knock. The Maharashtra batter, who was recently retained by Chennai Super Kings has been going through tremendous form across formats.
With this knock, Ruturaj seems to be knocking the doors of national selectors for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa next month. BCCI selection committee is expected to announce the test squad for the India tour of South Africa on Wednesday and Gaikwad is likely to be on the radar of the national selectors, especially with his purple patch in the white-ball cricket.
