The Red and Gold U-18 side registered a 1-0 win over the Mariners in the finals of the 15th Nityananda Das and Krishna Prasad Memorial challenge in Asansol. The lone scorer of the match was Deep Saha who netted his side the winner. The U19 squad of East Bengal got an invitation to play tournaments at Asansol and Jalpaiguri. However owing to flood in Jalpaiguri, the tournament was cancelled. As a result the U15 team was sent to Asansol. The young players defeated Jharkhand in the quarters by a 5-0 margin. In the mean time the U19 team too arrived at Asansol and thus the team mixed up with U15 and U19 players took part in the semis where they faced Mohammedan SC. The game progressed to penalties when the score remained 0-0. The Red and Gold brigade reached the finals after winning 5-4 in the tie-breaker round. On the other hand Mohun Bagan reached the finals after defeating Bokaroh. The finals were played with U18 players by both the teams where East Bengal was crowned as champions. The team won the trophy along with prize money of Rs. 15,000.
