UCL 2021-22 : Salah, Firmino score as Liverpool seals a 2-0 victory over Inter Milan in 1st leg of the round of 16 clash

Xtra Time Web Desk : Liverpool on Wednesday clinched a 2-0 win over Inter Milan in what was a thrilling UEFA Champions League round of 16 game. The marquee fixture saw both teams play exciting football.

The first half though started with Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool team being the favourites, but soon the home side, Inter showed resilience to make their fight back into the game with Edin Dzeko leading the forward line.

Liverpool however with more possession of the ball failed to capitalise on their chances, which led to the first half ending with both teams level at 0-0 scoreline.

The second half however saw Klopp’s team come out all guns blazing to get their first goal of the match. And the constant pressing from the away side came into effect when forward Roberto Firmino scored a goal on the 75th minute of the game to give the English giants a much anticipated lead.

The scoreline was however doubled by the Egyptian magician Mohamed Salah on the 88th minute as he scored the decisive goal for his team to hand them over a 2-0 victory in the first leg of the round of 16.

The Italian giants will now have a humongous task in hand if they are to beat Liverpool to get past through to the quarter finals.
