U’19 World Cup : Ishan Kishan to lead , Arman Jaffer surprise inclusion

India-colts-winning-Tri-SerMumbai , December 22 : BCCI  junior selection committee announced the squad for the upcoming U-19 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh from 22ndJanuary to 14th February. The Indian Team will be led by Ishan Kishan. Rishabh Pant has been named the vice captain of the side. With the likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, Arman Jaffer , Avesh Khan , Indian team coached by Rahul Dravid have a very good chance to win the World Cup.

Arman Jaffer, nephew of  former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer is a surprise inclusion to the side. Arman who has slammed three consecutive double hundreds in the U-19 Cooch Bihar Trophy was not a part of the squad that played in the recently concluded tri-series .

In Bangladesh the conditions would be similar like India . The Indan colts recently emerged victorious in both the tri-series they took part in , and that would give them the much needed confidence going into the World Cup .

Washington Sundar was the leading run scorer for India in the tri series in Sri Lanka. He scored three fifties in four innings at an average of 52. His highest score was 77. The only  century of the series came from  Amandeep Khare.

Coming to the bowlers there are some very promising fast bowlers in the current team. Avesh Khan who made his debut  this season for Madhya Pradesh shined with the ball against Bangladesh and Afghanistan . In the spin bowling department Mayank Dagar is also very handy with his slow left arm.

India have the necessary mixture and depth in bowling and batting. India last won the Under-19 World Cup in 2012 in Australia under the captaincy of Unmukt Chand .
