File Pic[/caption] Internet Desk: There's been a huge furore over the selection of Arjun Tendulkar in the Under-16 West Zone squad, some questioning if it was done at the cost of Pranav Dhanawade – the kid who broke the 1000-run barrier in a single knock recently. The '16-year-old' from Mumbai had the world talking about him after his marathon knock in an inter-school match in January this year. At that time, the boy wonder had the who's who of cricket following and congratulating him, besides millions of Indian fans. Those fans have once again rallied around Pranav, but for a different reason, which is actually not a valid one. The selection procedure for the West Zone U-16 squad says that Dhanawade was not eligible for selection. Most importantly, Arjun was not selected for the Indian Under-16 team but the West Zone squad of the same category. The best part is that Pranav is not eligible for selection, and this comes from the mouth of his own father. He explained that the selections for the Mumbai Under-16 came before the record made by his son. Since, Pranav was not part of the Mumbai squad, he was not eligible to be part of the West Zone squad. A player must have represented Mumbai to be picked in the zonal side, but Dhanawade's path-breaking knock came after the Mumbai U-16 team was picked and had played a few games. Pranav's coach, Mubin Sheikh, also urged everyone to not put him under pressure by creating a controversy when none exits. One hopes that such misinformation does not affect the two kids in question and they are able to concentrate on the game. This is a classic case of how one wrong detail turns into something big for no reason. However, common sense has prevailed and Arjun and Pranav can go back to doing what they do best - play cricket. Who knows, in a few years they could both be donning the national cap? Here's wishing them all the best for the future.

Truth behind Arjun Tendulkar's selection ahead of Pranav Dhanawade in West Zone U-16 squad
