Internet Desk: Die hard Liverpool fan Moeen Ali has achieved the career best ranking in the ICC Test Player Rankings, following his heroics against the visiting South African team at Lords. England went 1-0 up in the four match test series with a 211 runs win.

Ali contributed 87 and seven with the bat and bagged four for 59 and six for 53 with the red cherry as England romped to victory with more than a day to spare.

For his heroics with both the bat and the ball, Ali has been rewarded with improvements in all three categories, which, in turn, have given him career-best batting, bowling and all-rounder rankings.

The England cricketer was lucky to meet Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana during the Lords test.

Reds midfielder Lallana was among the thousands of supporters at Lord’s and Ali was keen to get a snap with the England international after stumps.

The 30-year-old Worcestershire all-rounder took to social media to show off a picture of himself with Lallana and his England team-mate Liam Dawson. He wrote, ‘3 gun footballers! great to see and meet @officiallallana at the test today!’

Ali is a life-long Reds fan and was named as an honorary ambassador for Liverpool’s official supporters club in Pakistan in 2015.
