Tendulkar bats for football , hope to see the game develop in India

Sachin-playing-footballNew Delhi : Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar feels India has the potentiality to do well in football . Sachin ,who owns Kerala Blasters in Indian Super League is surprised to see the popularity of football in the country . He feels ISL have contributed to an extent in popularizing the sport . And now with India hosting the FIFA U17 World Cup , it will be a big boost for the development of the game .

“With India’s billion-plus population, if it (football) grows it’s definitely going to have a positive impact on football all over the world,” stated Tendulkar, during an exclusive interview to FIFA.com.

However, he was a bit cautions about the football infrastructure in the country as he added: “I think the infrastructure of how football is run in India is going to become critical.”

Comparing football with the sport he has been involved with , the former India cricketer feels it will be some doing to catch the popularity of cricket in India ,“It’s nowhere near cricket, but I don’t like comparisons. It’s about appreciating each and every sport – the skills, the hard work and the sacrifices the players make.”
