Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy : Gomez Helps Kerala Shock Baroda

Mumbai : All-round show by Irfan Pathan was not enough for Baroda , as they lost  to Kerala by 4 wickets while Mumbai batsman Sreyas Iyer(86) steered Mumbai to a 5 wicket victory against Vidarbha in Super League group stage of the 2016 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Saturday.

Kerala captain Sachin Baby won the toss and elected to field first. Kedar Devdhar(31), Deepak Hooda (32) and Irfan Pathan (35 off 18 balls ) powered Baroda to 160 for the loss of 6 wickets. Chasing 161 runs to win, Sachin Baby(44)and Raiphi Gomez*(47) steered Kerala to victory with 2 balls remaining . Irfan also picked two wickets .

Mumbai clinched a 5 wicket victory against Vidarbha  in another Group A match at Wankhede Stadium . Mumbai captain Aditya Tare won the toss and elected to field first. Jitesh Sharma(56) and Apoorv Wankhade(36) powered Vidarbha to 181 for the loss of 4 wickets. Chasing 182 to win Shreyas Iyer(86) and Aditya Tare(41) steered Mumbai to a comfortable victory with 7 balls to spare .

Uttar Pradesh clinched a 7 wicket victory against Gujarat in Group B match at BKC . UP captain Suresh Raina won the toss and elected to field first. Manpreet Juneja(54) and Chirag Gandhi(41) powered Gujarat to 165 for the loss of 6 wickets.  Chasing 167 to win batsmen Samarth Singh(65) and Umang Sharma(38)steered Uttar Pradesh to victory with 6 balls remaining.

Delhi beat Jharkhand by 5 wickets in the second match of Group B at Bandra Kurla Complex . Delhi captain Gautam Gambir won the toss and elected to field first. Virat Singh(45) and Ishank Jaggi(42) anchored Jharkhand to 134 for the loss of  7 wickets. Chasing 135 to win Dhruv Shorey(30) and Nitish Rana(60) steered Delhi to victory with 12 balls to spare .
