Suryakumar Yadav injures his wrist ahead of game against NZ in Dharamsala | CWC2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: The Indian cricket team suffered an injury scare ahead of the game against New Zealand at the HPCA stadium on Sunday. Middle order batter Suryakumar Yadav suffered an injury to his wrist while batting in the nets. He twisted his wrist while facing throwdowns from Raghavendra. He was in considerable pain and was immediately attended by the support staffs. Moments later he was seen being applied with ice packs on his injured right wrist. After applying ice-packs for a few minutes he was seen walking out of the practice arena with a big taping on his wrist.

With Hardik Pandya ruled out for the game, Surya was tipped to take his place. It goes to be seen how serious the injury is before the team management takes a call. The seriousness of the injury is yet to be confirmed, but the immediate response indicated that it was no ordinary scare.

It will be a double blow for India if Surya also misses out. Earlier Hardik Pandya has been ruled out because of an ankle injury in the game against Bangladesh in Pune. If Surya misses out then Ishan Kishan is likely to come in. Although Shardul Thakur too can keep his place.

Here is the likely playing XI for India: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja  Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami
